Sarah-Kate Chiovitti who graduated from Holy Cross High School in Waterbury in June 2011 will be attending Wagner College in Staten Island in September. Her primary training has been in dance which she started doing at a young age. In her eagerness to fully participate in musical theater productions she began voice training with Christina Rovics as a high school sophomore. She turned into quite a dynamic singer, a strong belter with an impressive range. Her strength in musical theater is in the character role and her innate ability to pick up on accents, the comic touch, and use her acting ability to put a song across. She received the Director’s Award for Outstanding Dancer at the end of the 2011 semester at Holy Cross having appeared in the show Evita at Holy Cross. In a few weeks she will be dancing at the Warner Theater in Torrington in a Reach for the Stars dance recital. When I asked her what she has planned for the summer she told me that she will continue to take classes at the Broadway Dance Center in New York and study at Actor’s Technic Studio, also in Manhattan. Singing has long been a major part of her life as well. She is one of three soloists who appear weekly at Saint Thomas Parish in Thomaston, her home town. In college she plans to major in acting and minor in dance. This summer Sarah-Kate has already started working as an Assistant Teacher of Dance for the summer in Newtown, working with children ages four through twelve. Sarah-Kate appeared in a number of videos on this website including our first welcoming video on the home page in which she learns how to distinguish her belting voice (male voice) from her legitimate voice (female voice) and know which one will best put the song across. We wish her great success in college. Christina and Howard Rovics
