Voice training in Bethel, Ct - Karaoke Songfest on Jan 27, 2013

Eight of our singers participated in our Karaoke Songfest at Empire Szechuan on January 27, 2013.  In order of appearance they were Jordan Arena, Amber Fairchild, Katrina Geslien, Anna Bunovsky, Ria Paranjape, Peter Gasparo, Shalaina Parikh and Tony Bruno.

This is the third time in recent years that we have held similar  concerts at  Empire Szechuan. There were about 35 in attendance on this particular Sunday afternoon, dining while our students sang. Some 23 songs took about 90 minutes without intermission.

Dianna Waller joins Anna Bunovsky in a duet singing Marvin Hamlisch's Don't Follow Me in My Footsteps from The Goodbye Girl. Both singers train with Christina Rovics. The pianist is Howard Rovics and the video was taken by Ray Flanigan of Bethel Photoworks in a studio concert at the Danbury Music Centre on December 2, 2012.

Dianna Waller, sings Surabaya Santa from Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown. This song is a parody on the style of Kurt Weill songs as sung by his wife Lotte Lenya. Her performance took place at the Danbury Music Centre on a concert  sponsored by the Christina Rovics Vocal Studio -- A Singing Celebration! -- December 2, 2012. The pianist is Howard Rovics. Vocal Coaching, Ct - Into the Woods Review

Brookfield Theatre Company’s current production of Into the Woods is outstanding andIntoWoodsImage well worth attending. It’s the finest example  we have ever seen of great community theater.  It’s musical theater at its best! 

The show runs through October 13th with Sunday matinees on September 30th and October 7th. Contact BrookfieldTheatre.org for show times and tickets. 

We went to opening night, September 21st with two of our grandchildren (ages 11 and 12)  who know the show well. One member of the cast currently studies voice with Christina, Rebecca Pokorski who plays Cinderella’s Stepmother. Three other cast members were former students -- Amy Crupi (Cinderella), Kira Wallace (Baker’s Wife), and Karen Robinson (Lucinda) were also in this production. Kira Wallace was one of the show’s three producers.
